President-elect 2026 (1 Opening)

June 2026 – 2027  President-elect:

  • Three-year commitment, beginning June  1.
    • 1st year as President-elect
    • 2nd year as President
    • 3rd year as Past President
  • Member of APS Executive Council.
  • Presides at Council meetings when the President is unable to attend.
  • Serves on the APS at PAS Program Committee during tenure as President-elect and President.
  • Serves on the APS/SPR Board of Directors, during tenure as President-elect, President and Past President.
  • Introduces the Siegel Award recipient during the APS Presidential Plenary at PAS.

June 2027 – 2028  President:

  • Serves a one (1) year term—beginning June 1.
  • Member of APS Executive Council.
  • Responsible for general/active management of APS affairs, including strategic planning and implementation.
  • Presides at Presidential Plenary and Howland Gala at the PAS Meeting.
  • Serves on the Finance Committee during tenure as President and Past President.
  • Serves as ex-officio member to the APS CODIE during tenure as President.
  • Serves on the APS PAS Program Committee during tenure as President-elect and President
  • Serves on the APS/SPR Board of Directors, during tenure as President-elect, President and Past President.
  • Serves as APS “Observer” on monthly PPC conference calls.
  • Serves as APS Representative (with APS Secretary/Treasurer) to FOPO.

June 2028– 2029  Past President:

  • Serves a one (1) year term—beginning June 1.
  • Member of APS Executive Council.
  • Serves on the Finance Committee during tenure as President and Past President.
  • Chairs the Nominating Committee during tenure as Past President.
  • Chairs the Nichols Award Selection Committee when awardee is unavailable.
  • Serves on the APS/SPR Board of Directors, during tenure as President-elect, President and Past President.

To nominate:

  • Nominee must have membership dues in good standing.
  • Nominee letter of interest highlighting qualifications (upload in .pdf format).
  • Nominee statement on how your personal and/or institutional experiences advance APS values (collaboration, community, compassion, curiosity, equity, and excellence) APS values. (upload in .pdf format).
  • Abbreviated CV (upload in .pdf format).
  • Prior service within APS (Council, Committee, Representative / Liaison to Other Organization(s), or Journeys & Frontiers Program Leader) required.

Note:  Must wait a three-year period between nominations if selected as a candidate and not elected.
