Marion Koso-Thomas, MD, MPH, graduated from the University of Sierra Leone with a Bachelor of Science with Honors (BSc Hons) and Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB). She received her pediatric training from the University of Illinois in Chicago and the Georgetown University Medical Center. She worked as a clinician for 10 years before embarking on her career in public health by obtaining a Masters in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University. She joined NICHD in 2008 and is a key member of the Global Network (GN) team responsible for extramural research activities including oversight of scientific integrity, monitoring of performance and safety, and implementation of protocols. She is a program official for the Pregnancy and Perinatology branch, overseeing a broad range of neonatal and pediatric grants. Dr. Koso-Thomas serves as an expert resource on topics related to maternal and child health in resource poor settings, particularly with respect to sub- Saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America. She currently serves as the Scientific Advisor for the NICHD Safe Sleep Initiative among other roles in the institute.

Jacqueline Kreutzer, MD, FAAC, FSCAI, Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Division Chief, Pediatric Cardiology, Co-Director, Heart Institute and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. A native of Argentina, Dr. Kreutzer came to Pittsburgh from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. In addition to her clinical duties as leader of interventional cardiology at the Heart Center, she has a strong academic and teaching record. She has authored more than 60 scientific publications, and has served as guest reviewer for several journals, including Catheterization and Cardiovascular Intervention, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, American Journal of Cardiology, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and others. She has taught extensively internally, nationally and internationally. She has served as active member of multiple societies, committees and boards, such as the American Board of Pediatrics, Subboard of Pediatric Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology NCDR IMPACT Registry, the American Heart Association CDVY Committee on Congenital Cardiac Defects, and others. She is board certified in Pediatric Cardiology and in Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Her research interests include novel catheter/device use for cardiac catheterization and transcatheter intervention.

Jacqueline Kreutzer, MD, FAAC, FSCAI

Fangming Lin MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Chief of Pediatric Nephrology at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lin received her MD degree from Fujian Medical University in China and PhD degree in Pharmacology at New York Medical College, followed by pediatric residency training at New York University Medical Center, and pediatric nephrology fellowship training at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She jointed Columbia University in 2011 after serving University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for 10 years.

As a physician scientist, she actively participates in patient care, medical education, and basic science research to investigate kidney tubular epithelial stress response to hypoxic or urinary tract obstructive injury. She combines animal models with cell and molecular approaches to understand the mechanism of injury and repair in the kidney with a goal to identify therapeutic targets to prevent and treat kidney disease. Her research has been continuously funded by the NIH, the American Society of Nephrology, the American Heart Association, and the March of Dimes. Dr. Lin has generated animal models and research tools to share with the research community and served on committees at the national and international levels. She is currently a standing member of the NIDDK Pathobiology of Kidney Disease (PBKD) Study Section.

Ann M. Mandalakas, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pediatrics and Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine where she serves as Chief of the Section on Global and Immigrant Health and directs the Global Tuberculosis Program of Texas Children’s Hospital. She also serves as adjunct Professor in the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston’s School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Science. Over the past two decades, her translational research has focused on identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and prevention of TB disease in children living in both TB high and low burden settings. Since joining Baylor College of Medicine in 2012, Anna has collaborated with colleagues to develop research capacity and enhance the care and treatment of TB and TB/HIV affected children and adolescents living in over a dozen countries hosting Baylor initiatives including the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI).
